Most definitely: What Did You Expect, by Paul David Tripp and Grace-Filled Marriage by Tim Kimmel
I also liked Kiss Me Like You Mean It and Fun Loving You.
I would add You & Me Forever by Francis & Lisa Chan
Any Top 20 list would be incomplete without John Gottman’s seminal work “The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work.”

Dustin,
I’m going to buy your book because I know by what you’re sharing that it is filled with nuggets of “Gold Wisdom” that will strengthen my marriage.
Thanks for the gift of books that will make a difference in our marriage as well!
Here’s another book that is counter cultural bringing awareness to what our fighting can produce if we don’t avoid or stuff those fights and learning how to fight with a purpose!
I am finishing out a YOT, “Year of Transformation” with the Wright Institute in Chicago and the couple that are the founders of the institute came out with another great book called “The Heart of The Fight” regarding 15 common fights and how they can help your marriage by being aware of them. It is by Bob & Judith Wright who have also done an extensive amount of work with couples for the past 35 years.
Another great resource like yours and a wonderful place to find healing within the context of becoming their best selves!
God bless you and your family Dustin,
Brian Benakos
No the book of Ephesians did not make the list
Two books should be considered “And They Were Not Ashamed” and “Knowing Her Intimately” by Laura Brotherson
Thanks for these suggestions, Tom!
I was really surprised that Shannon Ethridge’s – The Sexually Confidant Wife
was not on this list.
Thanks, Richard. I haven’t read that book but thank you for making me aware.
The Road Less Traveled
By M. Scott Peck
Simply the best for understanding true love (actions not feelings) and raising your children… Children only understand ONE THING as love… TIME!
Thank you, John!
I would add “This Momentary Marriage,” “Wild at Heart,” “Captivating,” and perhaps “The Love Dare” to the list, just off the top of my head.
I would add Sheila Gregoire's "The great sex rescue". If you read that, I'm pretty sure you'd delete "Love and respect" from this list.
