I guess one of favorite dates would have to be on this New Year’s eve, which is also our wedding anniversary (17th). My husband took me for an afternoon of walking a trail, climbing a bluff, eating a delicious and simple picnic, and having wonderful, quiet, uninterrupted conversation. Even got to watch the sun lowering on the horizon, as it was a beautiful day.

One of our favorite dates is going to one of the many museums in Washington D.C. They are mostly free, we get time to be together without interruption and we learn something.

One of our favorite dates is a Coffee Date. On Wednesday nights we head up to our local coffee shop and have a coffee together. Although it’s not overly romantic, we really like having that time to connect. An hour or so with no kids, dog, t.v., or the million other things that distract us and require our attention at home. We can talk about things that we don’t necessarily want to talk about when the kids are around etc. Simple and inexpensive, so but oh so nice!

  4. One of our favorite dates we found by using a Groupon. Yea, for half-priced fun! It was a full-moon paddle on Lake Maitland here in Orlando, FL. It was October and the moon was appropriately called the Harvest Moon. It was bright enough to harvest crops by, but we simply paddled side-by-side in our personal kayaks while following our leader to an island in the middle of the lake. We disembarked and found snacks, wine and great music to entertain us as long as we wanted to stay. It was so romantic and relaxing! We had never kayaked before, but found out we love it more than canoeing!

  5. Our favorite date was when I discovered that my husband’s favorite band was coming to town and playing a small venue. He thought they were too big to even come to our closest city so he almost fell over when I told him that I bought two tickets for us. He was also amazed that I wanted to go since I’m not fond of that particular kind of music (to put it nicely). The show was about three months from the day I told him I had tickets. I think I had more fun watching the anticipation in him over those months than on the actual date (which was also a kick). The fact that I don’t like that music was completely irrelevant. I absolutely loved watching the joy in his face during the whole experience. The glow for both of us continued well after the date.

  6. I don’t know if I have a favorite date idea, but I have a new favorite love gesture. The idea came from a Pinterest post but you buy a pill container the ones that have one compartment for every day of the week. Then fill it with candies or little notes, mine had notes and some candies because my hubby is a candy junkie, I gave it to him yesterday while he was sitting in his recliner and he loved it. The first note stated “A week’s worth of love for you from me, I loved you then I love you still I always have I always will” He thought it was a great idea and it was so much fun for me, plus very affordable, I got the pill container at our local dollar store and then the candies and notes were all stuff that was sitting around our house :)

  7. One of our favorite dates was a “Back to College Night”. I gave hubby an invite and told him to wear his Purdue gear. That night we ate take out from Hardee’s which was across from our dorm. We watched a movie that we had watched in college and still talk about today. I also made ice cream sandwiches that we would have during our floor meetings. My RA would always have an extra for hubby. It was a great time to relive some old college memories!

  8. One of our favorite date nights was our 13th anniversary. I took the lead for the entire evening and it started out with a couples massage. While Alisa was finishing up her massage I picked out her clothes for the evening. She really dug this and I do it from time to time. After that we headed over to our favorite sushi place, but the cool thing there was that I had ordered up all her favorites before we even got there. Once we sat down all she had to order was her drink and everything else followed. The night ended up with us hanging out at home as I had a friend watch the kids that evening. It’s been just over 2 years since that night and we still talk about it like it was yesterday.

One of my favorite dates we went on was when he surprised me with a dinner train ride. It was gorgeous and so neat to have dinner on a train!

  10. My wife loves when I put together “treasure hunts” for her. I make clues that lead her around our house and then to the various parts of the date.

My favorite part is watching her work through the clues, her excitement building with each one she finds.

A favorite date night (that also happened to be super cheap, but lots of fun) was attending our church’s potluck (we took dessert) and then heading over to the College men’s basketball game. Because I work at the College, we get in free. We met up with friends and had such a great time.

We have been trying to watch our spending, so the thought of having dinner and a game while not spending much money yet getting out of the house this time of the year (it’s cold and dark) was a win-win!

  12. I’d have to say my favorite date with my wife had to have been our first one.

I took her to the top of these beautiful dunes and we watched the sunset together. Then we headed to the movie theater and caught Kill Bill. Laughed so much.

Great time together and I wound up marrying her.

  13. My favorite date was one my husband set up all by himself. He took me down town without telling me what we were doing, then handed me my camera and a list of things to find- a photo scavenger hunt of sorts. Then at the end of the night- he surprised me with a love letter he’d written with different parts corresponding to different items in the hunt. (ie: a man walking down the street. He wrote “I remember walking alone so often, now I walk by your side.”) It was so sweet and romantic, I framed the pictures in black and white, with snippets from he letter, and it makes a huge wall collage in our home! It still makes me smile!

  14. Picked her up for our date. Drove around for a while, pretending I couldn’t find the restaurant. Finally, drove to my place for home made dinner! It rocked!

  15. I think my favorite date would have to be when we waited until after the kids went to bed and then ate dinner. We had soup, salad, and fresh bread. Then we watched a movie together – no technology! – and had dessert. For dessert, we had fresh berries and cream. We made the dinner together and actually agreed on the movie. It was a nice evening.

My favorite date with my husband is dinner, and a baseball game at the local AAA team’s field.

  17. Can’t beat dressing up and going out for a posh meal.

Great conversation, mood lighting, delicious food, red wine.

    The mood is set.

  18. One of our favorite dates…hmmm…we have so many. I had to get my hubby’s opinion on this and the consensus was the night we went to see Mona Lisa Smile a little more than 8 years ago. We were engaged to be married in April of 2004 but the night after Christmas, we went to see Mona Lisa Smile and after the movie we went back to my (then) fiance’s house. We were sitting on the couch and he turned to me and said, “Why are we waiting to get married?” I didn’t have an answer for that so he followed it up with, “Want to go get married now?” Oh yeah! We called our family, hopped in the car and drove to Vegas at 10pm and got married the next day. It was the date that never ended.

  20. Our favorite date is when my wife has the day off we go to Starbucks for a vanilla latte. It’s a small drive and the whole thing takes an hour or so, but we get to spend some quality time together and talk about our life together.

My favorite date was to a painting class. We shared snacks and laughs and left with a painting that we each created. Very fun and something different from our day to day life.
